Steward Health Care System LLC (Steward) today announced that it has completed the acquisitions of Morton Hospital and Medical Center (Morton) and Quincy Medical Center (Quincy). The transactions had already been reviewed and approved by the MA Attorney General and the MA Department of Public Health. The Morton acquisition was also approved by the MA Supreme Judicial Court.
“Morton and Quincy will be important parts of our fully integrated community care organization,” said Ralph de la Torre, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Steward. “Our capital investments in these hospitals will allow their medical staff and employees to enhance the quality of care they deliver to their patients.”
Steward is the largest fully integrated community care organization in New England. Steward’s goal is to keep clinically appropriate care in the community. To achieve this goal, Steward is investing hundreds of millions of dollars of capital into its hospitals. This investment in technology, infrastructure and equipment is designed to provide patients high quality care at Steward hospitals without having to travel to downtown Boston. As a result of these acquisitions Steward will:
