Morton Hospital's Parent and Family Education Program invite you to participate in our classes, which are designed to help today's families meet the challenges of parenting. Our programs are family-oriented and focus on the changes impacting all family members.
Class sizes are limited to ensure individualized attention, so we encourage you to register early to avoid disappointment. For your convenience, a registration form is attached. Preparation for Childbirth is a five-week series designed to prepare you and your partner for labor and delivery. The more knowledgeable you are about the birth process, the more rewarding you are likely to find the experience. As you progress through the prepared childbirth classes, you will have an opportunity to actively plan your labor and delivery as you learn about the birth options available to you.
Prepared childbirth classes include a range of topics such as diet, exercise, prenatal care, relaxation and breathing techniques, the stages of labor and newborn care. Classroom teaching consists of films, demonstrations and discussions. $50.00. Private classes are available for $80.00.
Ready for Delivery is a workshop designed for parents who are limited in their time, or who have had a previous birth and are looking for a review course. This three-week series will offer information on labor and delivery, breathing, pain management, and information on the last trimester, including the birth process. $25.00.
Weekend Childbirth Classes
Weekend Childbirth classes focus on preparing you for labor and delivery. The more knowledgeable you are about the birth process, the more rewarding you are likely to find the experience. As you progress through this class, you will have an opportunity to actively plan your labor and delivery as you learn about the birth options available to you. This class includes a range of topics such as diet, exercise, prenatal care, relaxation and breathing techniques, the stages of labor and newborn care. THIS IS A 2 WEEK CLASS. $50.00 for series. 9:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M. Classes are held in the Margaret Stone Conference room at the Hospital.
Maternity Unit Tours
One of the best ways to learn about the facilities and choices available for your childbirth experience at First Impressions is to visit our Center. During your tour, you'll spend time with a member of our maternity staff, so bring along your questions. To arrange for a tour, call the Maternity Unit at (508) 828-7145.

Feeding Your Baby The prenatal breastfeeding class is facilitated by a certified Lactation Consultant and is designed for expectant parents who would like more information on breastfeeding. Topics include the advantages of breastfeeding, return to work issues, avoiding common problems, pumping and storage of milk, and weaning. Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend. $FREE.
Infant Care This two-hour class is designed for new parents to answer questions and concerns regarding the care of a newborn. Discussions include basic newborn care, family adjustment, common problems in the newborn period, and when to call the Pediatrician. $20.00.
Big Brother/Big Sister The arrival of a new baby in the family can bring on a number of reactions from brothers and sisters. This class, designed for children ages 3 through 10, helps children prepare for the changes the new baby will bring, as well as help them to understand that having a new baby doesn't mean less love to go around.
The class includes a visit to the nursery and other activities designed to make big brothers and sisters feel like the very important persons they are. $10.00.
Babysitter Training Course This course is designed for potential babysitters ages 11 to 15. The class covers such topics as verbal contracts, child development, home safety, accident prevention, managing mealtimes and bedtimes, and discipline. The class consists of two sessions, each lasting approximately three hours. A certificate is awarded on completion of the course. $10.00.

The Women’s Imaging Center is open six days a week. Mammography appointments are available Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you have discovered a lump in your breast, you will be seen as quickly as possible.
