We Need Your Help
Volunteers are one of Morton Hospital's most precious resources. Without volunteers, we would find it difficult, if not impossible, to add those special touches that our patients appreciate.
By volunteering, you become an important and integral part of Morton Hospital and Medical Center. It's easy to begin as a volunteer. We offer a complete orientation program so you can learn about the hospital, the staff and areas where you can help. We train you before you begin and introduce you to new people at the hospital.
Our volunteers are men and women who range in ages from 13 to 90 years old. They are students, retirees, singles, married couples, those who work full time and those who work at home. You can volunteer as little as three hours a week or as much as you would like. Once an assignment has been chosen, you can select the most convenient hours for service.
There are many departments at Morton Hospital that depend on volunteers for help. Some departments deal directly with patients and others do not. You decide where you want to be. Your skills and interests can be matched accordingly, or you may want to learn a new skill--which we will teach you. A sampling of volunteer areas includes:
Patient Relations Representatives
Dietary Aides
Gift Shop
Greeters
Flower Delivery
Nursing Units
Public Relations, Marketing & Development
Office Support
Patient Information
One of the greatest gifts you can offer Morton Hospital, and your community, is yourself. In return, the volunteer experience gives back to you. By meeting new people, or learning a new skill, or by offering cheer and warmth to people going through difficult times, the volunteer experience will enhance your life.
For more information on volunteer opportunities at Morton Hospital or for an application, call Pat Carroll, Director of Volunteer Services, at (508) 828-7352.
This experience was more than I could have hoped for.
