At some point during their pregnancy, most women begin thinking about labor and delivery. Most have probably heard stories from their friends and family members and begin wondering, "What will labor be like and how will I handle it?"
Morton's First Impressions staff is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make each woman's birth experience positive and rewarding. Our dedicated nurses are trained and experienced in labor and childbirth, breastfeeding and postpartum care. They play a special role in the entire childbirth experience - they are there to boost morale, calm fears, keep the laboring patient focused and motivated, and promote bonding between the new mother and her baby. Our labor staff helps by utilizing relaxation techniques, massage, position changes, breathing, non-pharmacologic pain relief, and most importantly, reassurance. They also keep the mother’s partner and other loved ones involved in the process of labor and birth.
Research has shown that attending to the laboring mother’s emotional needs leads to a positive birth outcome and experience. Every labor and delivery is different, and each laboring mother has different needs for comfort and support. The staff is trained to be flexible and creative in developing strategies to keep the laboring mother relaxed and in control. Available techniques include: birthing balls, massage, therapeutic touch, music therapy, and breathing and relaxation exercises.
In the First Impressions Maternity Center, our goal is to make each woman's labor and delivery experience unique, memorable and rewarding. We'll work with you to develop a birth plan that meets your needs, and we'll be right by your side every step of the way!
I would like to thank everyone for making my recent hospitalization at Morton as comfortable as possible. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The Staff couldn’t have been better, from the kitchen up to the Doctors. I haven’t been hospitalized in any hospital since 1969 at a different hospital, but it did not compare to the wonderful way I was treated at Morton. The Doctors were wonderful and caring also. I want to thank everyone for the professional, yet personalized way that they treated me. Thank you again.
