As an effort to improve the health of school-aged children, Morton Hospital, with grant support from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, has established a School-Based Health Center to serve children throughout the greater Taunton area who are enrolled in grades K through 12.
The School-Based Health Center is designed to help students achieve better health habits, improve access to health care and ensure that students are physically and emotionally prepared to learn.
The School-Based Health Center is staffed by a nurse practitioner - a registered nurse with advanced skills, education and training - who works under the supervision of the Centers' Medical Director. Nurse practitioners work closely with all local pediatricians and family practitioners.
