Kim Bassett, RN, BSN, MBA
Kim Bassett, RN, MSN, MBA, was appointed
as President of Morton Hospital in April
of 2012. Prior to joining Morton,
Bassett was employed by Health
Management Associates (HMA), a national
hospital management company, for more
than 22 years. While at HMA she served
in various clinical and administrative
roles, including her most recent
position as CEO of St. Cloud Regional
Medical Center, in St. Cloud, Florida.
Prior to that, she was the CEO of
Fisherman’s Hospital and Keys Medical
Group in Marathon, Florida.
Bassett’s previous administrative roles
include Chief Nursing Officer at Lower
Keys Medical Center, in Key West,
Florida as well as charge nurse in the
Emergency Department and house
supervisor. Prior to her
management positions, she was a critical
care nurse in Open Heart and Surgical
Intensive Care Units at facilities in
Missouri, Florida and Virginia.
She earned her Masters of Business
Administration in 2003 from the
University of Miami, Florida. Bassett
holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
and a Registered Nurse certification and
became a certified Risk Manager in 2004.
She has served as a trustee on the Board
of the Florida Keys Community College
and is a member of the American College
of Healthcare Executives.
Donna L. Maher, RN, MPA/MHA
Chief Operating Officer
Donna Maher has been on the leadership
team at Morton Hospital for more than 14
years. As the Chief Operating
Officer (COO), Maher plays a key role in
optimizing patient care by growing
service lines, improving patient safety,
and overseeing hospital departments and
medical partnerships. During her tenure
at Morton Hospital, Maher has
served as Vice President of Professional
Services/Patient Safety Officer and
Director of Performance Improvement,
prior to her current role as COO.
Prior to joining Morton
Hospital, Maher was the
Director of Performance Improvement at
Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham,
Massachusetts. Her previous experience
also includes serving as Director of
Quality Management, Care Management and
Social Services at Good Samaritan
Medical Center in Brockton,
Massachusetts, and Quality Assurance
Coordinator and registered nurse at Beth
Israel Hospital in Boston.
her Masters of Public Administration and
Health Care Administration, as well as
her Bachelors degree in Business
Administration, from Suffolk University
in Boston. She also maintains an
associate of nursing degree from Laboure
College in Boston. She is
affiliated with the American College of
Healthcare Executives and Women in
Healthcare Management, and is a board
member of the United Way of Greater
Attleboro & Taunton.
Chief Financial Officer
Carmen Acker assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Morton Hospital in July of 2012. She joined Morton with more than 27 years of health care leadership experience.
Prior to joining Morton Hospital, Acker was employed by Health Management Associates (HMA), a national hospital management company. She has served in various administrative roles, including her most recent position as Chief Financial Officer of St. Cloud Regional Medical Center and St. Cloud Physician Management Group in St. Cloud, Florida. Prior to that, Carmen served as Chief Financial Officer of Fishermen’s Hospital and Keys Medical Group in Marathon, Florida. While at Fishermen’s Hospital, she also served as Accounting Director and Business Office Manager prior to assuming the role of CFO.
Acker earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a specialization in management from Saint Leo University in Dade City, Florida. She has been affiliated with several community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the American Youth Soccer Organizations and the Marathon Youth Club in Florida.
Lorena Silva, MSN-L, MBA, RN
Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer
Lorena Silva assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer at Morton Hospital in January 2015. She joined Morton Hospital with more than 16 years of nursing experience, including 13 years of experience in leadership roles.
Prior to joining Morton Hospital, Silva served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at Quincy Medical Center. Her previous experience includes serving as Chief Nursing Officer at Health Management & Associates - Lake Normal Regional Medical Center in North Carolina and Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Iasis Healthcare - St. Luke's Medical Center and Tempe St. Luke's Hospital in Arizona.
Silva received her Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis in leadership, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. She is currently a Doctorate of Nursing Practice candidate at Duke University.
Peter D. Martelly, MD
Vice President of Medical Affairs
Dr. Peter D. Martelly joined Morton Hospital in March 2015, assuming the role of vice president of medical affairs.
Prior to joining Morton Hospital, Martelly served as associate chief medical officer and associate director of medical education for Southcoast Hospitalist Group. His previous leadership experience includes serving as medical director and chair of the Physician Advisory Committee for CPOE at Charlton Memorial Hospital, as well as the clinical trial investigator for the New England Center for Clinical Research. He also served as a member of the United States Navy, receiving special commendation for leadership from the Commanding Officer at the Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego.
Martelly received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital. He is a published author and has conducted comprehensive research on numerous clinical topics.
