Endoscopy Services

Morton Hospital’s endoscopy specialists provide our patients with the best possible care in a safe, comfortable environment. Through minimally invasive procedures, we are able to diagnose and treat a variety of problems, such as:

  • Breathing disorders
  • Urinary infections
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Internal bleeding
  • Irritable bowel syndrome

During an endoscopy, a specialist examines the interior surfaces of a patient’s organs and tissues with an endoscope, which is a long, flexible tube with a light and video camera attached to the end. The physician is able to view images of these surfaces on a screen, allowing the physician to identify any abnormalities or areas of concern.

Some of the more common endoscopic procedures performed at Morton Hospital include colonoscopy screenings, upper endoscopies (to evaluate the esophagus, stomach and upper small intestine) and ERCPs (to evaluate the bile ducts and pancreas).

Endoscopies are instrumental in identifying several types of cancers, including:

  • Lung cancer
  • Throat cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Intestinal cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Colorectal cancer
