Morton Hospital to Host Diabetes Awareness Event on March 28

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Morton Hospital and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) will host a diabetes awareness event on Friday, March 28 from 2 pm – 4 pm in the hospital’s Center for Wound Healing.  Guests will be treated to healthy food giveaways, door prizes, education on diabetes prevention and management, and complimentary snacks and refreshments.

The event is being held in recognition of the American Diabetes Association Alert Day®, which is celebrated every March.  During this annual observance, the American Diabetes Association encourages the public to take the “Diabetes Risk Test” to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, and to begin living a healthy and active lifestyle to prevent chronic diseases like diabetes.

Staff members from Morton Hospital’s diabetes program will be on-site to provide diabetes education and presentations.  The hospital’s Center for Wound Healing team will educate the public about diabetes-related complications and services provided by the center.  In addition, guests can take the ADA’s “Diabetes Risk Test” to learn more about their risk for developing diabetes.

This event is free and open to the public.  For more information, please call the Morton Hospital Center for Wound Healing at 508-828-7780.
