May 15th marks the start of EMS Week, a nationwide celebration and recognition of our Emergency Medical Services partners who work with our emergency departments to save lives every day.

EMS professionals have always a critical role in supporting health and safety in our communities. Their work, however, has become even more important — and more difficult — during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, we recognize how our EMS partners “rise to the challenge” of triaging, stabilizing and transporting patients for higher-level care at hospitals in immensely stressful situations. Their fast actions, resourcefulness, bravery and dedication ensure members of our community receive the highest quality care when they need it most.     

I hope you will join me today, throughout the week, and every day, in thanking our EMS professionals for everything they do. We are honored to call them our partners in care and an extension of our Morton family.
